“Bulletproof coffee – what exactly is it?”

If you search for “bulletproof coffee” on the internet, the first website that will come up will be www.bulletproofexecutive.com. It is rightly so because the guy behind this website is the same guy who came up with bulletproof coffee. While doing our research on this new breed of coffee that health buffs seems to be raving about, we found Dave Asprey who came up with the idea of bulletproof coffee on a trip to Tibet where the locals gave him yak butter tea. That was when the light bulb in his head went off.

Now, I am not a coffee drinker so the first time I heard about butter in your coffee, I did not know how to react. I do know that butter with JUST ABOUT ANYTHING is delicious but coffee with butter?

It is important according to Asprey and other bloggers/videos that I have seen online, that butter source be grass-fed. Grain-fed sources of butter supposedly do not taste as good, and does not blend well and hence does not lend you BULLETPROOF.

I do know someone who takes this coffee every morning and she claims that there is an increase in energy. Other beneifts cited, which also appeared in Dr. Weil’s website, says that when Dr. Jeffrey Gladd, M.D., experimented with coffee made according to Asprey’s recipe, he reported good results. “It keeps hunger at bay and has enhanced my mental clarity and sharpness 20 to 25 percent,” he says. The doctor believes that a morning dose of almost pure fat may help stimulate the body’s fat-burning potential, leading to easier weight loss. He also advises using organic coffee and butter from grass-fed cows for optimal results.
